Design services provided to AVIC International Holding Corporation, China (AVIC INTL) for the Extension of Southern Expressway (ESE) Sri Lanka
The project, funded by EXIM bank was awarded through main contractor AVIC International Holding Corporation (AVIC INTL) facilitated the extension of Colombo – Matara expressway to Hambantota. AVEK was responsible for the structural designs of 9 km long viaducts, underpass bridges, overpass bridges, underpass culverts and box culverts, including the designs of pile foundations and 6 span continuous and simply supported ‘T’ girders. One of the viaducts, designed by AVEK was 4 kms long and is to date considered one of the longest viaduct structures ever built in Sri Lanka. The construction works of this expressway was completed in year 2019.
